Now that we're getting close to the dasBlog engine's 1st birthday, I'd like to know how people use it. I am seeing quite a few blogs out there who run the software, but it's just as interesting to know how the engine is used in corporate Intranets and whether you use it as a tool to help coordinate projects, share knowledge about certain topics or .... how would I know?

If you use dasBlog, it'd be great if you could share with me how you use it, how you like it, and what you don't like. If you've warped the engine into something totally different or if you have some really cool design but it lives hidden inside the corporate firewall, I would appreciate getting a screenshot (blur out the secrets). None of the information will be published unless you allow me to do that.

I am also interested to know whether and how you've used snippets from the blog code for your own projects and/or products. Knowing what pieces are valuable to you would allow me to isolate them and put them into some isolated "goodies" library down the road.

I love this tool!! I created my own skin, primarily as an excercise to see how you wrote the macro/skin processor.

My favorite "snippet" is the Add Attachment feature of the EditEntry page.

I've been using dasBlog for 6 months now and I'm still very happy with it.

I wanted it to act as a host for my entire site (not just my .NET blog), with some fairly static and some "bloggish" pages. You can read about this setup here: http://jelle.druyts.net/PermaLink.aspx?guid=0314d25a-e8be-4da8-905e-a9d62f7229b3.

Another thing I did was extend it by adding a public referrers page (http://jelle.druyts.net/PermaLink.aspx?guid=1cd47444-e3d6-4800-bddd-d535dea23e14), and a custom photo album control (http://jelle.druyts.net/PermaLink.aspx?guid=abc7a1f8-005a-4fa1-bed7-a4eacfc8b3b3).

I haven't gotten around to creating a slick theme for myself yet, since most people just pull down the rss anyway I guess. But I'm thinking about designing something soon.

I also haven't really looked at the code much yet - apart from hunting down bugs and looking at extensibility options.

Favorite features: nested categories and category-dependent templates. But I'd like to see those work together (see http://www.gotdotnet.com/Community/Workspaces/BugDetails.aspx?id=77a29128-4746-4473-b676-e4f1517a1907&bugID=10861). And it would also be nice if we could use meaningful permalinks, like ~/PermaLink.aspx/2004/01/06/Services in stead of using the GUID.

Other than that: this is really a great tool! Thanks to all of you for creating and maintaining it!

I'm using dasblog now for 6-7 months and I'm happy. It was easy to install. At this moment I haven't created my own theme, although it's on my list. Also I want to go deeper in Dasblog when having some free time.

Hope to see a lot of improvements in the next versions.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

I've been using dasBlog for a whopping 2 days now. This is as far as I've gotten so far: http://www.keystonebiking.com/dasblog

I hope to move it and integrate it into my complete site very shortly. I want to add some other sections of the site and integrate it into the new look I've adopted for my dasBlog theme.

I look forward to future updates to dasBlog and thanks again for putting stuff together that I've been looking for, since I'm unable to use MT on my server. It's a great alternative!

Thanks again

I am testing my blog, and am wondering how much modification it would take to the source code so that comments can first be checked by some sort of admin before going live? I'm thinking a notification email to an admin, who then toggles the comment to being live.

I have a commercial web site with multiple brokers, we cannot take the chance of people maliciously posting nasty content.

Help :)
